Production of a Spectacle

Saliva is Thicker Than Blood

Last March 21st 2008, Martina Comstok curated a show at VIVO entitled "Pressure To Perform". My brother and me did a piece called "Saliva is Thicker Than Blood". We wore red face paint. It signified our relationship. It ended in an exchange of saliva spitting.

Wooden Xylophone

For a Sculpture class on my Foundation year, I made a wooden Xylophone. I presented this piece through a performance.

I used a Casio sk that had an analog sampler. I sampled my voice and played and recorded it at the park.

A in Appropriation

This sound piece revolves around the phonetic sound of the letter A.

This piece was performed at Hoko's, a venue for young Vancouver hipsters.

"Sit" is a piece that explores the space where desire is situated. In this piece, desire is situated between the gap of my sitting location and the pillow.

My attempt to embody the chair while reaching for the pillow is a physical expression committed into translating my desire to provide comfort.

"Waiting" was a piece I performed with my brother Patrick Cruz for the show "My Mother Worked In The Factory". It took place at the Brow Gallery. A cry amplified by a microphone signified a desperate call for consolation. The blanket used was one of the few things that i brought to Canada.
